National Broadband Plan 'eMisr' on Thursday November 17th, 2011
The National Telecom Regulatory Authority of Egypt announced the launch of the National Broadband plan, eMisr, on Thursday November 17th, 2011. On this occasion, the NTRA organized a webinar from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM to present the different modules of 'eMisr'. The sessions were webcasted on NTRA's website.

The NTRA Announces the Success of the New Mobile Numbering Scheme Activation & Increase of the Mobile Number to 11 Digits
The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has announced that the mobile operators managed successfully to implement and activate the new plan to increase the length of the current mobile numbers from 10 to 11 digits Thursday 6/10/2011.

A Warning Statement Against Deceptive Messages
"The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) calls on all telecom users not to deal at all with any text or voice message (they receive on their mobile phones or via e-mail). In addition, the NTRA calls on all users not to respond to any calls they receive from unknown sources or persons as these calls aim nothing but swindle on users by claiming that they have won delusive contests or asking them to enter a certain code in order to get a prize. Eventually, the caller would have his credit withdrawn through his mobile or by having his banking accounts hacked". WhatsApp Services Monitoring Rumor
It has been observed recently that there were warning messages spread on the mobile phones and the interactive online networks sent to mobile service users warning them about downloading a specific URL that had been sent to mobile phones. The warning messages alleged that the sender of that link was the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) that aimed to monitor and censor WhatsApp services.

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has launched and adopted the new ICT strategy for broadband: “eMisr National Broadband Plan” to attract more investments, create new job opportunities and gain a financial return on GDP. This significant Plan has been launched in light of the changes Egypt is passing through and within the framework of the huge demand to increase the Internet speed and the quality of services provided online, not to mention the growing desire of the consumers to have access to visual content, news, and multimedia services.

Quality of Mobile Services Measurements' Report
The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has issued and published on its official website a report on the Quality of mobile Services measurements (voice services - data services) for Q3 2011 (July - August-September 2011). Dr. Amr Badawi, NTRA’s Executive President, highlighted the remarkable improvement in the quality levels in most of areas of A.R.E especially in Greater Cairo compared to the results of QoS measurements for the second quarter of the same year.

The NTRA's Implementation Of the New Mobile Numbering Plan Tomorrow
The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has announced that starting from tomorrow, Thursday 6/10/2011, its plan to increase the length of the current mobile numbers from 10 to 11 digits will be activated and that the mobile services might be affected in the period from 3:00 am to 6:00 am for a period ranging between 30 minutes to 3 hours.

General Rules of Customers Rights Protection
Within the framework of the keenness of National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) to activate the provisions of Telecom Regulation Law No. 10/ 2003 and continue carrying out its mandate to supervise, regulate and support the telecom sector in compliance with the protection of free competition, investments and customers' rights, and pursuant to the provisions of articles (2/4), (5/6), (13/7), (18/2), (25/7) and (19) of the said Law with regard to the NTRA's competence to take all the necessary actions for the protection of telecom services users. This takes place through setting up the rules that ensure such protection as setting up such rules is considered part and parcel of the NTRA's core mandate.
