Three Egyptian Companies Selected for Domain Name Registration Services under the Arabic Country Code Top Level Domain of Egypt “.ãÕÑ”
Three Egyptian companies have been selected, to be granted a domain name registration license, namely: TE Data, InTouch (owner of Link) and Vodafone Data. This step will enable all users to register domain names in Arabic through any of the selected companies.

General Rules of Customers Rights Protection
Within the framework of the keenness of National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) to activate the provisions of Telecom Regulation Law No. 10/ 2003 and continue carrying out its mandate to supervise, regulate and support the telecom sector in compliance with the protection of free competition, investments and customers' rights, and pursuant to the provisions of articles (2/4), (5/6), (13/7), (18/2), (25/7) and (19) of the said Law with regard to the NTRA's competence to take all the necessary actions for the protection of telecom services users. This takes place through setting up the rules that ensure such protection as setting up such rules is considered part and parcel of the NTRA's core mandate.

"Know Your Rights" Awareness Campaign
It is the core mission of the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) to spread the culture of "Rights & Duties" within the ICT sector. It exerts all efforts to consolidate the relations with the civil society organizations as a nucleus of fruitful cooperation between them that aims to raise the consumer's awareness of various telecom services. Within the framework of its keenness to carry out its mandate, the NTRA has launched an awareness Campaign under the slogan "Know Your rights".

Within the framework of our consolidation of the bilateral (official and commercial) relations between Egypt and South Korea, an expanded South Korean delegation visited Egypt on Tuesday 15 June 2010. The delegation included representatives of the official South Korean entities, the private and industrial sectors. The Egyptian security bodies in collaboration with the state's national security bodies, Telecom Egypt (TE) and the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) determined the site of a company in Maadi district that had been controlling (through that site) a telecom network to bypass illegal incoming international calls.

Launching The New Mobile Numbers With (015) Code
The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has addressed the three mobile Operators to commence selling the new mobile lines in markets with the new code (015) and 11 digits (for new lines only) starting from Thursday June 10th, 2010. Mobinil's code will be (0150), Vodafone's code will be (0151) and Etisalat's code will be (0152). This comes in implementation of the transitional period of the new numbering plan that was previously announced by the NTRA.

The New Regulation of the Registration of Consumers’ Personal Data in Selling and Activating Mobile Lines
There has been lately fierce competition among the three mobile Operators in Egypt in selling mobile lines at competitive prices. As a result, some market agents and distributors have failed to sell mobile lines without obtaining users’ personal data or selling them with incorrect data. Hence, a number of mobile lines that lacked personal data were registered in mobile Operators’ databases.
